Now, I know what some of you are thinking. I’ve been slacking on posts. You’re right. But I have an excuse! (“Excuses are like as-tronauts!” What? This is a food blog, why are we talking about space?) Juliette hasn’t been sitting up properly or staying on her belly, and it reached a point where the doctor was concerned. I was working with her constantly all week, and really not seeing much improvement, so we decided to take it a step further.
Thankfully, her daddy and I graduated high school with a second-generation chiropractor, Dr. Dana Metzger, DC of Garden State Family Chiropractic. Not ONLY is she a gen2 chiropractor, she also specializes in pediatrics and infants!! So it was a no-brainer for us, and we got Juliette over there (after much back and forth because having one car is brutal) yesterday to get adjusted. We learned new exercises to do with her to fix what Dr. Dana suspects is a neurological issue with one side of her body. It’s AWESOME because even since she was adjusted, we’ve seen a real, visible improvement in her comfort level sitting for a few seconds at a time and playing on her belly.
I had to include this in the blog, just in case other parents out there have any similar issues with their babies, because not many people realize that chiropractic care is incredibly valuable to infants. It was a MAJOR weight off my shoulders to hear that she had an actual, totally treatable issue with her nerves, and that I hadn’t done something wrong to ruin her life.
And, of course, shameless plug here, if you’re in the South Jersey area, give Dr. Dana a call! She’s knowledgable, committed, and Jute loved hangin’ out with her because she is ALSO really cool!
